Trendy Beauty Packaging & Label Designs for 2022

In 2022, consumers are consistently being informed about new and innovative brands of cosmetics that have a sense of identity that they can relate to. Beauty firms have responded by adapting their packaging and labeling styles to meet these needs.

Consumers are increasingly yearning for a choice in designs and aesthetics for their beauty care. Most importantly, something that defines who they are. Here are some of the latest 2022 trends in beauty packaging and label designs!

Nostalgia

Remember Y2K? A time in history filled with light blues, purples, silvers, whites, pale neons, and the liberal use of geometric shapes. Well, we survived the Y2K “bug” the first time, but now it’s back 20 years later.  In the form of style, this trend has swept over most of the branding and designs in almost every industry this year. From music, film (The glittery aesthetic from the popular T.V. show "Euphoria"), fashion, cosmetics and packaging! In fact, stores that were once popular in the past have recently made a comeback! "Retro-futuristic" designs pay homage to the fashion and aesthetics of the late 1990s and early 2000s. They're undeniably one of the most popular current beauty trends, which naturally leaks into finding the overall look of that product. Who would have thought that the Y2K scare would soon become an aesthetic? Nostalgia is always strong.

K-Beauty

Think “Hyper stylized.” These beauty-packaging trends from South Korea are being noticed worldwide thanks to the power of social media, as well as the rise in exposure for Korean entertainment in the west. According to K-Beauty expert Alicia Yoon, “When it comes to packaging, you have to be extremely cute or super fun or very minimal, extreme version of anything. You’ll see it all, there’s a huge range on shelves and websites.” In order to fully embrace these trends, the foundation and philosophy of what K-Beauty stands for needs to be understood all the way down to the skincare culture in Korea.

Artwork

Consumers want a personal, symbolic design that can tell a story in their beauty packaging and labels. With art-styled designs becoming popular, the beauty industry is taking notes. Brands want to tell a story. Brands want that personal connection with their consumers. Todays consumers are becoming more brand-conscious, and have greater control over whom they purchase from. This trend is bringing distinctive cosmetic packaging to the next level with artwork consumers can truly vibe with and say “This is me!”

Scandinavian Minimalism

minimalistic beauty packaging

Another recent packaging trend is the minimalist aesthetic trend, as mentioned in our previous article. For example, this can be as simple as a black plain sans serif font, such as Futuro, Helvetica, and Gill Sans on a white surface. With the text being a focus, it can be organized into three text sections - small, medium, and large. As the medium, place the brand name at the top, the larger text being the product name in the middle, and the small text being longer at the bottom, with more information about it. This all takes inspiration from Scandinavian Minimalism, a trend that is currently being hopped on by the west. The flat, minimal design style will definitely continue to thrive for a long time. Simplicity can be powerful.

Flexible Packaging

What’s an efficient, high-quality method to create any of these different designs? Flexible packaging is becoming increasingly common in the cosmetics industry. Its pliable, durable, eco-friendly yet lightweight material may be formed into a wide range of shapes and sizes. Materials that are difficult to hold, such as liquids, powders, gels, and oils, can be held in flexible packaging. Because of the airtight seals made by high-quality adhesives and barrier films, it's ideal for all things skincare. It also offers a higher filling volume than rigid containers!

Whatever your vision in beauty packaging and labels, there is a way to bring it to life.
