It's no secret that e-commerce has become so much stronger during the pandemic, with consumers making more purchases online than ever. As a result, brands need to stand out on the shelf and on the screen, which has led to many different packaging design trends. We rounded up a few of the most common ones we’re expecting to see in 2022:
Geometric Designs
Simple geometric designs filling the background of the label or packaging in repetitive patterns are proving to be very popular for 2022. Squares, circles, and triangles with clean lines and bright colours and sure to make your packaging pop on the screen and the shelf.
Soft Colour-Blocking
Bold colour-blocking has been showing up in label and packaging design more frequently over the past few years, and we’re now seeing this trend evolve into a more organic version. Brands are using softer, ambient colours to demonstrate colour-blocking for more natural scenes, such as landscapes with mountains or oceans.
Monochromatic Design
Brands are scaling it back on their designs by using single, bold colours, rather than several different colours. Going further, many brands are basing product ranges around one colour, and then using different shades to signify different SKUs or ingredients within the range.
Bold Titles
Bold text and typography have been strong trends for labels over the past few years, particularly in the beer and wine industry. Recently, we’ve been seeing bold typography as the main focus of the packaging or label design, where the title of the product will appear in the center of the label or the packaging with secondary design elements in the background.
Symmetrical Designs
Many brands have been integrating reflective or symmetrical patterns into their design. For example, words and images going forwards or backwards.
These are just a few of the more prominent design trends that we're expecting in 2022. For more information, reach out to us here or request a quote online!
