Clean Labeling

You might have seen our blog post explaining the term "clean labeling" or "clean label" at the start of the year: it's a term that is here to stay. Health and wellness have been a growing focus for consumers in the last few years, and "clean labelling" promotes transparent labelling for nutritional information. Consumers are looking for clear labelling when it comes to calorie content and ingredients, even for alcoholic beverages.

Interactive Packaging

Interactive packaging has been a topic that's come up a lot on our blog recently, and it doesn't look like that'll be changing anytime soon with the number of new advancements being added so frequently. Using QR codes to offer extra value and engagement to consumers is becoming more and more popular in the beverage industry, with brands creating platforms to share ingredient information, recipes, relevant recycling tips, etc.

Sustainability

Still at the forefront of most consumers' minds is sustainability. They're looking for packaging that is eco-friendly and easy to recycle and reuse. Using sustainable alternatives when it comes to label stock (like post-consumer waste, stone paper, etc.) or going with a shrink sleeve (which uses no adhesive and can be removed easily when perforated) can influence consumer purchase decisions significantly.

Further sustainability is also important for most brands and, in addition to finding ways to make the packaging more sustainable, improving internal processes is a priority. More and more beverage brands are opting for aluminum cans, as they're lightweight, stackable and strong, making them easy to package and transport. Another significant factor is that aluminum can be recycled over and over again, reducing its environmental footprint.
