Barcode Design

When creating barcode designs for your label or flexible packaging, scannability is crucial! We understand sometimes a packaging might be too small

and space is limited, when size allows, we recommend you create your barcode with a minimum 80% magnification.

The empty space on the left and right side of your barcode is called the “quiet zone”. We recommend that quiet zone to have a minimum size

of 4mm as seen below.

Designing a Truncated Barcode

When creating a barcode that will fit your artwork properly, truncation might be required. Truncation varies with the different types of bar

codes. This involves reducing the height of your barcode, although we do not recommend having any truncation applied. A smaller UPCA at

full height (minimum 80%) is better than a larger magnification with truncation.
