Associated Labels and Packaging is happy to announce that we are now accepting customers to participate in our Paper Label Liner

Recycling Program!

Paper Label Liner Background

A silicone coating is added to paper label liners for both digital and flexo labels in order to create a non-stick surface for label application. This

process renders spent label liners non-recyclable. Fortunately there are a handful of mills in North America which have the proper tooling to

desiliconize release liners. The fibres from this process get added to a circular economy with new label liners created with Post-Industrial

Recycled Material (PIR) content. More commonly however, these high value fibre feedstocks are used for food packaging, office stationary

and the like.

Benefits of Our Paper Label Liner Recycling Program

    • Diverting your paper label liners from the landfill or incinerator
    • Creation of high value fibre feed stock
    • Prevention of 1.6 tonnes of CO2 being released into the atmosphere per 1 tonne of liner recycled (*Dekra Certified Data)
    • Reduction of CO2 from waste hauling vehicles, and therefore less vehicles on the road
    • Reduced tipping, hauling and landfill costs
    • Going above and beyond basic recycling requirements, and demonstrating commitment to sustainability and a circular economy

Shipping and processing costs to the recycler will be covered by Associated Labels and Packaging. If you are interested in joining this program and would like more information, please contact your sales rep.
