We Are Now Certified “Food Safe”

We Are Now Certified “Food Safe”

May 7, 2018

Associated Labels and Packaging is proud to announce our successful acquirement of the International Featured Standards (IFS) PACsecure Certification. In other words, our company has become “food safe” in the most vigorous global standard one can achieve.

What does this mean?

In a nutshell, our facility produces labels and packaging which ensure food safety requirements are met within our customers product supply chain.

How do we fit in the picture?

Imagine you are in the grocery store holding a food product such as a stand-up pouch full of quinoa. Now think vertically in the supply chain. These raw materials had to be sourced, processed, packaged safely, and then shipped across the country to grocery stores.

Our companies roll is to ensure protection from biological, chemical and physical hazards within our label and packaging facility. This is because our labels and packaging will enter a facility that handles food products. In the case of our stand-up pouches, bar wrappers and lidding film; our packaging will come in direct contact with food.

Why is this important?

Globalization has meant that our food is being sourced from all corners of the world. Standards about what food safe means across industries and the world vary. International Featured Standards PACsecure raises the bar in meeting new stringent government regulations to protect consumers.

Next Level?

Associated Labels and Packaging thrives at being second to none; taking these difficult steps in becoming IFS PACsecure certified solidifies our place at the top of our industry. We look forward to helping customers thriving to reach their own personal best.

A more in depth explanation:

We are Forest Stewardship Council, Chain of Custody, Certified!

ALP has held “Chain of Custody” certification with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) for almost one year now. By having chain of custody certification, we can ensure our FSC Certified label stock is identified, kept separate from non-certified label stock, and tracked through the entire printing process. This process is needed as to not break the chain of custody for FSC certified products as they are distributed on to our customers.

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an independent, not for profit, non-government organization established to support environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world’s forests. FSC certification is voluntary and their standards can be seen at https://ca.fsc.org/en-ca.

Using FSC certified products is a step in the right direction for the sustainable forestry industry; however, more needs to be done in terms of the restoration of these ecosystems once they have been logged. Associated Labels and Packaging wishes to take part in these projects in the near future. We look forward to being industry leaders in social and environmental responsibility.
