Summary: Reporting to Controller, Intermediate Accountant is an integral part of the accounting team. The successful candidate will work closely with the Controller on a daily basis to assist with preparation, review, and analysis of monthly in-house financial statements, compiling and filing of various government remittances, and various reports and tasks to support operations.

Primary Responsibilities of the Intermediate Accountant:

  • Full cycle accounting: preparing monthly financial statements and related working papers, journal entries and reconciliations
  • Daily and monthly bank reconciliations
  • Managing government filings and remittances (GST, PST, Stats Canada)
  • Support with ongoing reporting and compliance requirements
  • Work closely with the operations teams to ensure proper accounting and internal controls are maintained on a company-wide basis
  • Follows all safety and food-safe procedures and complies with company policies
  • Performs other related duties and tasks as assigned

Skills and Qualifications of the Intermediate Accountant:

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in full cycle accounting
  • Post-secondary education in accounting, preferably working towards CPA Designation
  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g. Pivot tables, lookup formulas, sumifs)
  • Working knowledge of Sage 300 would be an asset
  • Excel Power Query/PowerBI would be an asset
  • Knowledge of data visualization best practices would be an asset
  • Self-motivated and driven to push things forward

  • Able to build and maintain solid relationships with vendors, clients, and co-workers
